Boris FX audio now covers five lines: CrumplePop for fast AI dialogue cleanup and stem separation, the Audio Plugin Union suites for mixing and mastering, Sound Forge for waveform editing and mastering, the Samplitude, Sequoia, ACID Pro and Music Studio workstations, and, since July 2026, iZotope. The decision most visitors face is whether to buy one tool for the job or get it bundled inside Sound Forge Plus, VEGAS Pro or Samplitude Suite.
I route readers by the job and the host they already own, not by brand. If you cut video in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro and only need a voice to sound clean, CrumplePop on its own is the short path. If you work on Windows and edit, restore or master audio files, I'd start from Sound Forge and add only what it lacks. Every Boris FX workstation runs on Windows only, so on a current Mac the Boris FX audio tools with listed macOS support are CrumplePop and iZotope. Each section below names the page on this site that answers the next question, so you can skip what you don't need.
The Boris FX audio family at a glance
Start with the job column, then check the platform before you look at price. Clean up voice and dialogue
For a voice recorded in a noisy place, CrumplePop is the fastest Boris FX route and iZotope RX is the deeper one. The CrumplePop plugin set is AudioDenoise, EchoRemover, WindRemover, TrafficRemover, ClipRemover, Levelmatic, PopRemover, RustleRemover and Voice Enhance, sold as VST, AU and AAX plugins for Premiere Pro, Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Media Composer, VEGAS and other hosts. Most of them target one problem with a short set of controls. That is the strength and the limit: when Oliver Peters looked at the suite he noted it had no de-ess, de-breath or de-click filters, and those jobs still belong to RX or to Sound Forge's own restoration tools.
Use the table to match the problem to the CrumplePop plugin and to the page that shows the manual fix.
| Problem | CrumplePop plugin | Manual route on this site |
|---|---|---|
| Plosive pops on p and b | PopRemover (free) | Remove plosives without thinning the voice |
| Lavalier clothing rustle | RustleRemover (free) | Reduce lavalier rustle in Sound Forge |
| Wind on a voice track | WindRemover | Reduce wind noise in Sound Forge |
| Room echo and reverb | EchoRemover | Remove echo without wrecking speech |
| Steady hiss, hum and background noise | AudioDenoise | Remove background noise in iZotope RX 12 |
| Speech buried in changing noise | SoundApp Voice 2 Stems model | RX Dialogue Isolate settings |
| Clicks, sibilance and breaths | No dedicated plugin | Restoration software matched to damage |

Split a finished mix into stems
CrumplePop SoundApp and iZotope RX Music Rebalance both split finished audio into parts; SoundApp is the one built for video editors and ARA hosts. Boris FX describes SoundApp's demix models as Music 4 Stems (voice, drums, bass, other), Voice 2 Stems and Cinema 4 Stems (voice, music, sound effects, other), all processed locally rather than in the cloud. SoundApp ARA 2026.5 also runs inside Pro Tools, Sequoia, Samplitude, Reaper, Cubase and other ARA2 hosts. On a Mac it needs Apple Silicon, macOS 14 or later and 16 GB of memory.
- VEGAS Pro plugins by edition shows that only VEGAS Pro Ultimate includes the SoundApp standalone.
Mixing and mastering plugins
Boris FX's own mix and mastering effects are the Audio Plugin Union suites, and every Sound Forge 2026 buyer already owns one of them. The Audio Plugin Union page presents wizardFX as one-slider effects built around presets, coreFX as the core mixing and mastering set, and colorFX as saturation and character. It shows no prices. According to the Sound Forge plan comparison, both Sound Forge and Sound Forge Plus include the coreFX Suite, the essentialFX Suite and the dynamic EQ plug-ins, so check what you have before shopping for another suite. For a dedicated mastering assistant the family answer is iZotope Ozone.
- Audio Plugin Union review explains what wizardFX, coreFX and colorFX contain, which Boris FX programs include them and what reviewers report.
- Sound Forge plugins lists what each edition includes and how to load VST3 and ARA plug-ins.

Pitch and timing correction with Melodyne
For note-level pitch and timing edits, Boris FX bundles Celemony Melodyne 5 Essential in Sound Forge Plus and in Samplitude Suite. The base Sound Forge edition has no Melodyne, so pitch work is the clearest reason to choose Plus. If pitch work is the main job, note that Celemony's list of DAWs tested with Melodyne 5 names Samplitude Pro 2026 and Sequoia 2026 but not Sound Forge.
- Melodyne Essential vs Assistant answers whether the bundled edition is enough or worth upgrading.
- Sound Forge vs Sound Forge Plus weighs Melodyne and the other Plus extras against the price gap.
Sound Forge and the Boris FX workstations
Sound Forge is the editor for single files; Samplitude, Sequoia, ACID Pro and Music Studio are multitrack workstations, and all of them run only on Windows. Boris FX bought Sequoia, Samplitude and Music Studio from MAGIX in August 2025 and VEGAS Pro, Sound Forge and ACID Pro in March 2026, so the editors and workstations now come from one company.
The workstations step up in a clear order. Music Studio is aimed at people getting started and shares Samplitude's audio engine and object-based editing. Samplitude Suite adds Dolby Atmos mixing up to 7.1.4, the CrumplePop VST3 plugins with SoundApp ARA, Melodyne 5 Essential, Acoustica 7 Premium and a copy of Sound Forge 2026. Sequoia goes further into broadcast, classical recording and high-end mastering. ACID Pro stays the loop-based option. My view: if you need multitrack work plus Sound Forge, CrumplePop and Melodyne, Samplitude Suite at $495 perpetual costs less than Sound Forge Plus ($399.95) and CrumplePop ($345) bought separately.

Audio tools inside VEGAS Pro
If you already edit in VEGAS Pro, check your edition before buying any Boris FX audio tool. The VEGAS Pro plan comparison shows that Plus and Ultimate include Sound Forge and the CrumplePop VST plugins, and only Ultimate adds the CrumplePop SoundApp standalone; the base edition has none of them.
- VEGAS Pro plugins lists every bundled Boris FX tool by edition and what to add.
- Sound Forge and VEGAS Pro workflow shows how video editors pass audio between the two.

iZotope inside Boris FX
Boris FX announced its acquisition of iZotope on July 2, 2026, so RX and Ozone now sit in the same family as CrumplePop and Sound Forge. RX 12 is still sold as Elements, Standard and Advanced (from $99 to $1,399) and runs on both macOS and Windows, which makes it the deep repair option for Mac users. The RX hub and the iZotope hub route the whole range; these pages answer the questions that come up first:
- iZotope RX 12 review: which edition to buy and whether to upgrade.
- RX Elements vs Standard vs Advanced: what Elements leaves out and what Advanced adds over Standard.
- iZotope RX price, trial and licence: current costs, what the two trials allow and the licence rules.

Free tools, trials and when to buy
Two CrumplePop plugins are free outright, and most of the paid range can be tried before you buy. As Production Expert explains, PopRemover and RustleRemover keep working for free after you install the full CrumplePop bundle through the Boris FX Hub, while the other plugins stay in trial mode. The CrumplePop trial is fully functional but adds an audio watermark. Sound Forge, Samplitude, Sequoia, Music Studio and SoundApp each offer a 15-day trial.
- Free plugins and trials hub groups the free tools and trials covered on this site.
- Free iZotope plugins names the five real freebies and what is only a trial.
- Sound Forge free trial explains what the 15 days include.

How to choose
Find the row that describes you; the first column is the deciding fact, not the budget.
| If you | Start with | Then read |
|---|---|---|
| Edit video in Premiere Pro, Resolve, Final Cut Pro or Media Composer and need clean dialogue fast | CrumplePop | CrumplePop vs iZotope RX |
| Already own VEGAS Pro Plus or Ultimate | The Sound Forge and CrumplePop copies you already have | VEGAS Pro plugins |
| Need hum, click, sibilance or breath repair | iZotope RX 12 Standard | RX edition guide |
| Edit, master and batch-process audio files on Windows | Sound Forge; Plus if you also need Melodyne | Sound Forge vs Sound Forge Plus |
| Record and mix multitrack projects on Windows | Samplitude; Suite if you want Sound Forge, CrumplePop and Melodyne in one licence | Sound Forge in Samplitude Suite |
| Build tracks from loops | ACID Pro | Acid Pro vs Sound Forge |
| Work on a Mac | CrumplePop or iZotope; the Boris FX editors and workstations are Windows-only | Sound Forge for Mac |
| Want to spend nothing yet | PopRemover, RustleRemover and the free iZotope plugins | Free plugins hub |
If none of the rows fits cleanly, read the Sound Forge 2026 review first: most Boris FX audio decisions on Windows start from what the editor already does.
