On the US iZotope store on October 20, 2026, updating a product you already own to its current version cost a median 41% of the new price: $299 for Ozone 12 Advanced, $129 for RX 12 Standard from RX 11, $269 for RX 12 Advanced from RX 11 Advanced and $199 for Neutron 5. A crossgrade from any paid iZotope product takes $20 to $100 off a single new license, and stepping up from Elements usually lands within a dollar of buying the higher tier outright.
I price an iZotope upgrade in three moves: find the row that matches what is already in your account, compare it with the crossgrade and with one year of iZotope Pro, then log in, because the price iZotope will actually charge you appears only on your account. Every figure below is a logged-out US list price with no sale running; your loyalty offer can differ, and outside the US izotope.com can default to euros (the same Ozone 12 Advanced page showed €549 instead of $499). If you have not settled on which product fits your work, the iZotope hub sorts the range by job before you price anything.
iZotope upgrade prices at a glance
The table gives the update for owners of an earlier version, the upgrade from a lower tier and the crossgrade for owners of another iZotope product. All prices are US iZotope store list prices on October 20, 2026.

| Everything Bundle | $2,999 | $269 from the prior Everything Bundle | $1,279 from Music Production Suite; $1,099 from Post Production Suite | $1,399 from RX Advanced |
The Elements editions sit below the table: RX 12 Elements costs $99, and Ozone 12, Nectar 4 and Neutron 5 Elements cost $55 each. The store lists no update row for any Elements product; the one Elements path is Elements Suite 12 ($149), which costs $99 for owners of any Elements title.
Test results: what an update costs as a share of the new price
The composite result: across 10 products on one US store snapshot, updating from the immediately previous version cost a median 41.0% of the new license, with a range from 9.0% to 66.6%. The median falls in an empty gap between two groups, so the group your product belongs to tells you more than the number does. RX and the suites cost 9% to 32% of the new price to keep current; Ozone, Nectar and Neutron cost roughly 50% to 67%.
| Product | Update from previous version | New price | Share of new price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Everything Bundle | $269 | $2,999 | 9.0% |
| RX Post Production Suite 9 | $269 from 8.7 | $1,799 | 15.0% |
| Music Production Suite 9 | $129 from 8.5 | $799 | 16.1% |
| RX 12 Advanced | $269 from RX 11 Advanced | $1,399 | 19.2% |
| RX 12 Standard | $129 from RX 11 Standard | $399 | 32.3% |
| Nectar 4 Standard | $99 | $199 | 49.7% |
| Nectar 4 Advanced | $149 | $299 | 49.8% |
| Ozone 12 Standard | $129 | $219 | 58.9% |
| Ozone 12 Advanced | $299 | $499 | 59.9% |
| Neutron 5 | $199 | $299 | 66.6% |

The store figures hold up against published prices. Seven published price quotes from six independent outlets for Ozone 12 or RX 12 match the store's US prices, and none shows a US list-price change since launch. MusicTech's Ozone 12 launch report gave $55, $219 and $499 for the three editions and $799 for Music Production Suite; Sound On Sound's Ozone 12 Advanced review printed the same edition prices. MusicTech's RX 12 review listed $99, $399 and $1,399, with updates at $129 from RX 11 Standard and $269 from RX 11 Advanced. The RX 12 edition table in MixingGPT's RX 12 review and Creative Field Recording's quick look at RX 12 list the same $399 and $1,399, and the reseller trackers covered in the sales section list the same $499 and $1,399 regular prices.
Owners feel the split. Both forum threads in the search results for this query, and a third in the results for RX 12 pricing, complain that update or upgrade offers come close to, or exceed, what owners paid for the product. In the r/iZotopeAudio thread on Ozone 12 upgrade pricing, one owner put the move from Ozone 11 Advanced to Ozone 12 Advanced at $300, in line with the $299 store row.
Update, upgrade or crossgrade: which price is yours
Your price depends on what is already registered to your iZotope account, not on what you want to buy. iZotope's loyalty program page sets the terms: owners qualify for update pricing automatically when a new version ships, a crossgrade is a lower price on a different product because you already own another iZotope product, and any purchase, even an Elements version, makes you eligible.
The store labels split this into five price types. Read them literally:
- Update: a newer version of the same product and tier, such as RX 11 Standard to RX 12 Standard for $129.
- Upgrade: a higher tier of the same product, including from Elements, such as Ozone 12 Standard to Ozone 12 Advanced for $279.
- Crossgrade: a different product priced for owners of "any paid iZotope product", such as Ozone 12 Advanced for $449. That wording requires a paid license, so a free plugin alone does not match it. Suite crossgrades name the product you must own, such as Music Production Suite 9 for $459 from RX Standard or RX Advanced.
- Komplete crossgrade: owners of Native Instruments Komplete 2–15 (Standard, Ultimate or Collector's Edition) get Ozone 12 Advanced for $399.
- EDU: verified students pay half the new price, for new licenses only.

Two rules take the risk out of the purchase. iZotope does not ask you to surrender earlier licenses, so you keep every one you own. An upgrade or crossgrade is a full new license at a reduced price, so the older version can stay installed for sessions that still use it.
Ozone 12 update and upgrade prices
Ozone charges one flat update price whatever version you own: $299 to Ozone 12 Advanced from any earlier Ozone Advanced and $129 to Ozone 12 Standard from any earlier Standard, US iZotope store list prices on October 20, 2026. Against new prices of $499 for Ozone 12 Advanced and $219 for Ozone 12 Standard, those updates cost 59.9% and 58.9% of a new license, the second- and third-highest shares among the ten products in the test table.
Tier steps are where the choices are:
- Ozone 12 Standard to Ozone 12 Advanced: $279.
- Any older Ozone Standard to Ozone 12 Advanced: $399, which is $9 less than updating to Ozone 12 Standard ($129) and upgrading afterwards ($279). Make the jump in one purchase.
- Ozone Elements or Elements Suite to Ozone 12 Standard: $165; to Ozone 12 Advanced: $445.
- Owners of any paid iZotope product: Ozone 12 Advanced for $449 and Ozone 12 Standard for $199. Komplete 2–15 owners pay $399 for Advanced.
The Elements route does not save money at list price. Ozone 12 Elements costs $55, and the $445 upgrade brings Advanced to $500 against $499 new; Elements plus the $165 upgrade to Standard comes to $220 against $219. Standard plus the $279 upgrade to Advanced totals $498. iZotope's loyalty page promises that going from Elements to Standard to Advanced over time never costs more than full price, and on Ozone the three steps ($55, then $165, then $279) add up to exactly $499; the single Elements-to-Advanced row is the one that comes out a dollar over. Buy Elements because it does the job you need now, not as a cheaper ticket to Advanced.
These are still the launch prices: the US list on October 20, 2026 matched the $55, $219 and $499 that MusicTech reported when Ozone 12 shipped in September 2025. Ozone 12 also has a free 10-day trial, so you can open the new version in your own sessions before paying the update. Whether $299 buys enough depends on which new modules you would use, which is what the Ozone 12 vs Ozone 11 comparison covers. Before paying $279 to step from Standard to Advanced, check which modules only Advanced has in the Ozone 12 edition comparison. Ozone Imager, which turns up in the same price searches, has its own Ozone Imager guide.
RX 12 update and upgrade prices
RX works the opposite way: the update price depends on how old your version is, and it stays low only if you keep current. US iZotope store list prices on October 20, 2026, against new prices of $399 for RX 12 Standard and $1,399 for RX 12 Advanced:
| What you own | To RX 12 Standard | To RX 12 Advanced |
|---|---|---|
| RX 11, same tier | $129 | $269 |
| RX 10, same tier | $199 | $399 |
| RX 1–9, same tier | $299 | $599 |
| RX 11 Standard | See update row | $799 |
| RX 10 Standard | See update row | $899 |
| RX 12 Standard or RX 1–9 Standard | Already owned or see update row | $999 |
| RX Elements or Elements Suite | $299 | $1,199 |
| Any other paid iZotope product | $349 | None listed |
The store sells only current versions, so owners of RX 8 or RX 9 buy the "RX 1–9" row, and those rows cost more than twice the RX 11 rate: $299 against $129 for Standard, $599 against $269 for Advanced. At $129 the RX 11 Standard update is the cheapest RX move on the store; what it adds is covered in the RX 12 vs RX 11 comparison.
One listed row looks backwards. An RX 11 Standard owner can move to RX 12 Advanced for $799, while an RX 12 Standard owner pays $999 for the same step. If you own RX 11 Standard and want Advanced, buy it in one purchase: updating to RX 12 Standard first ($129) and upgrading afterwards ($999) totals $1,128, which is $329 more. Confirm that your account shows the $799 offer before you buy, because logged-in prices are personal.

Elements owners have the one ladder that pays: RX 12 Elements ($99) plus the $1,199 upgrade comes to $1,298, $101 under Advanced new, while Elements plus the $299 upgrade to Standard totals $398 against $399. The Standard-to-Advanced step is the big RX decision. MusicTech's RX 12 review questioned whether Advanced's extra modules are worth an additional $1000, and the modules that money buys are listed in the RX Elements vs Standard vs Advanced comparison. For the trial, license terms and authorizations, see the RX price, trial and license guide. If most of your repair work happens inside a wave editor, compare RX 12 with Sound Forge before paying for Advanced.
Nectar 4 and Neutron 5 upgrade prices
Nectar and Neutron use flat update prices like Ozone, and both exclude Elements from the update rows. US iZotope store list prices on October 20, 2026:
- Nectar 4 Advanced ($299 new): $149 update from any earlier Nectar except Elements, $149 upgrade from Nectar 4 Standard, $245 from Nectar Elements or Elements Suite, $249 crossgrade.
- Nectar 4 Standard ($199 new): $99 update, $145 from Elements, $149 crossgrade.
- Neutron 5 ($299 new): $199 update from any earlier Neutron except Elements, $245 from Neutron Elements or Elements Suite, $199 crossgrade.
Three rows deserve a second look. Neutron 5's update costs $199, exactly its crossgrade price, so an older Neutron license gives you no edge over owning any other paid iZotope product. Nectar 4 Standard to Advanced costs $149, more than the $100 gap between the two new prices: Standard now and Advanced later totals $348, against $299 for Advanced outright. And the Nectar 4 Advanced update row reads "any previous Nectar (excl. Elements)" at $149; on that wording an owner of an older non-Elements Nectar goes straight to Advanced for the same $149, which is worth confirming in your account before you buy Standard.
The Elements ladders end where Ozone's does. Nectar 4 Elements ($55) plus $145 reaches Standard at $200 against $199, and Nectar or Neutron Elements plus $245 reaches the full version at $300 against $299. If vocal processing or mix balancing is daily work and the top tier is the target, buy that tier first.
Suite and bundle update prices
The suites are the cheapest products to keep current; which suite to buy in the first place is covered in iZotope bundles compared. US iZotope store list prices on October 20, 2026:
| Suite | New | Update from previous | Older owners | Upgrade in |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Music Production Suite 9 | $799 | $129 from 8.5 | $225 from 8.0; $459 from 1–7.1 | $499 from Mix & Master Bundle Advanced |
| RX Post Production Suite 9 | $1,799 | $269 from 8.7 | $499 from 1–8.6 | Crossgrades from RX Advanced, below |
| Everything Bundle | $2,999 | $269 from the prior bundle | None listed | $1,279 from Music Production Suite; $1,099 from Post Production Suite |
Music Production Suite 9 contains RX 12 Standard, Ozone 12 Advanced, Tonal Balance Control 3, Neutron 5, Nectar 4 Advanced and the Catalyst Series, about 100 plugins, plus eight Native Instruments effects. Bought separately, its five headline products cost $1,625 (Ozone 12 Advanced $499, RX 12 Standard $399, Nectar 4 Advanced $299, Neutron 5 $299 and Tonal Balance Control 3 $129), against $799 for the suite. RX Post Production Suite 9 builds on RX 12 Advanced with Neutron 5, Equinox, Nectar 4 Advanced and Insight 2, among others. The Everything Bundle includes RX 12 Advanced, Ozone 12 Advanced, Neutron 5, the Catalyst Series, Nectar 4 Advanced, Equinox and Trash, among others.
Mix & Master Bundle Advanced ($599) holds Ozone 12 Advanced, Neutron 5, Tonal Balance Control 3, Neoverb and Nectar 4 Advanced, and its owners step into Music Production Suite 9 for $499. Mix & Master Bundle Standard ($429) pairs Neutron 5 with Ozone 12 Standard. Once you own a suite, each new version costs a fraction of the bundle; the Music Production Suite update from 8.5 is 16.1% of its new price, while updating Ozone 12 Advanced alone costs 59.9% of its own.
Crossgrade prices if you own any iZotope product
A crossgrade takes $20 to $100 off a single product and far more off a suite. US iZotope store list prices on October 20, 2026, for owners of any paid iZotope product:
| Product | New | Crossgrade | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ozone 12 Standard | $219 | $199 | $20 |
| Ozone 12 Advanced | $499 | $449 | $50 |
| RX 12 Standard | $399 | $349 | $50 |
| Nectar 4 Standard | $199 | $149 | $50 |
| Nectar 4 Advanced | $299 | $249 | $50 |
| Neutron 5 | $299 | $199 | $100 |
Suite crossgrades name the product you must own:
- Music Production Suite 9 ($799): $599 from Ozone Standard or Nectar Standard; $499 from Ozone Advanced, Nectar Advanced or Neutron; $459 from RX Standard or RX Advanced; $599 from Komplete (Standard, Ultimate or Collector's Edition).
- RX Post Production Suite 9 ($1,799): $399 from RX 12 Advanced, $599 from RX 11 Advanced, $799 from RX 1–10 Advanced.
- Everything Bundle ($2,999): $1,399 from RX Advanced.
- Mix & Master Bundle Advanced ($599): $359 from Ozone Advanced or Nectar Advanced; $449 from Ozone Standard, Nectar Standard or Neutron.
Price the direct jump before a two-step route. An RX 11 Advanced owner pays $599 to cross into RX Post Production Suite 9, against $668 for updating to RX 12 Advanced ($269) and crossing over from there ($399). For RX 1–9 Advanced the direct $799 beats $998 in two steps; for RX 10 Advanced the two routes come within a dollar ($799 against $798).
The cheapest non-student license on the store was VEA at $29. On paper, $29 plus the $449 Ozone 12 Advanced crossgrade comes to $478, $21 under new, but the same trick loses money on Ozone 12 Standard ($228 against $219), and the store does not confirm that VEA counts toward every crossgrade. I would not buy a product only to qualify for a discount; check the logged-in price first.
Student and Komplete owner prices
Students pay half of the new price. Every student (EDU) row on the US store on October 20, 2026 cost 50% of the new license: Ozone 12 Advanced $249.50, RX 12 Standard $199.50, RX 12 Advanced $699.50 and Music Production Suite 9 $399.50. iZotope's student discount page requires you to verify eligibility first.
The store lists no student version of any update, upgrade or crossgrade, and none for the Everything Bundle. That flips one comparison: for a verified student, Ozone 12 Advanced EDU at $249.50 costs less than the $299 update from an earlier Ozone Advanced.
Native Instruments Komplete 2–15 owners (Standard, Ultimate or Collector's Edition) get Ozone 12 Advanced for $399, $100 under new and $50 under the ordinary crossgrade. The store also lists Music Production Suite 9 for $599 as a crossgrade from Komplete. The store verifies Komplete eligibility in your account, as it does for every other offer, so log in before you count on those prices.
Subscription or perpetual upgrade
If you would update two or more iZotope products this year, price one year of iZotope Pro before buying upgrades. On iZotope's subscription page on October 20, 2026, both tiers came with a 7-day free trial:
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Main products |
|---|---|---|---|
| iZotope Plus | $15 | $150 | Neutron 5, Ozone 12 Standard, Nectar 4 Standard, RX 12 Elements |
| iZotope Pro | $25 | $250 | Ozone 12 Advanced, RX 12 Standard, Neutron 5, Nectar 4 Advanced |
Both tiers include Melodyne 5 Essential, and neither includes RX 12 Advanced. You can pause, upgrade or downgrade at any time.
Here is the arithmetic for a typical owner. Updating Ozone 11 Advanced and RX 11 Standard costs $428 ($299 + $129). One year of Pro costs $250 and includes both current versions. Two years of Pro cost $500, more than the one-time updates, and paying monthly costs $300 a year instead of $250. Three years of Pro ($750) come within $49 of buying Music Production Suite 9 outright ($799).
The deciding difference is what happens when you stop paying. After a subscription expires, the plugins revert to read-only mode, and while it runs, Native Access needs to go online once a month to verify it. Perpetual licenses keep working, and iZotope says they will remain available. My rule: Pro for a one-year project or a quick look at the current versions, perpetual updates for tools you will keep using for years.
Splice offers a third route. Its rent-to-own plan for Ozone 11 Advanced and Neutron 4 costs $27.99 a month for 22 months, $615.78 in total, with a 3-day trial, and you keep the license after the final payment. Those are previous-generation versions, and Mix & Master Bundle Advanced, with Ozone 12 Advanced and Neutron 5, costs $599 outright on the iZotope store.
Sales and reseller prices on upgrades
No sale was running on the US iZotope store on October 20, 2026: every listed price equalled its compare-at price. Resellers do run sales, and they cover update rows too.
The plugindeals.net price history for Ozone 12 Advanced showed 9 stores that day, from $444 at Thomann to $548 at Gear4Music, both without VAT, with iZotope, Native Instruments, Plugin Boutique, AudioDeluxe, ADSR and PluginFox at $499. In the 12 months to October 20, 2026 it recorded three sales, usually 22% off and at most 25%, typically lasting about 13 days. The lowest tracked price was $366 at Thomann in March 2026, also without VAT.
Update rows get discounted as well. Plugin Discounts listed the Ozone 12 Standard update at $116.10, 10% under the $129 list, and RX 12 Advanced at $1,259.10 against $1,399. MusicTech reported a spring Plugin Boutique promotion on Ozone 12, ending April 15, that also cut upgrades and crossgrades.
Timing follows the pricing model. Ozone, Nectar and Neutron charge the same update whatever version you own, so waiting for a sale costs you only time. RX prices its updates by the version you own, and on the current store the older rows cost more; if that pattern carries over to the next release, an RX 11 owner who waits risks landing on a pricier row. If your upgrade can wait for Black Friday, the iZotope Black Friday guide covers what to expect from that sale, and current offers are collected on the deals page.
How to see the price iZotope will charge you
Log in before you compare anything; logged-out pages show only the new price.
- Sign in at izotope.com with the account that holds your licenses.
- Open the product page, the Shop page or the iZotope Deals page. Logged in, each shows the prices you are eligible for, and the Deals page shows loyalty deals only after login.
- If no offer appears in Firefox, its Strict privacy setting may be hiding it; iZotope recommends whitelisting izotope.com in the browser.
- Compare the offer with the rows above and with one year of Pro, then buy the single cheapest route to the version you want.
The new license sits alongside your old one, so nothing is lost if a session still needs the previous version. If the new version will not authorize after the purchase, the Product Portal and authorization fixes cover the usual causes.
Erick's verdict
My rule is simple: RX and suite owners should update while their version is current, and Ozone, Nectar and Neutron owners should update only for a feature they will use.
- RX 11 owners: $129 for Standard (32% of new) or $269 for Advanced (19%) are the lowest RX update prices on the store, and I would take them. If Advanced is the goal, use the $799 row from RX 11 Standard in one purchase, not two.
- Ozone, Nectar and Neutron owners: the flat price means skipping a version costs nothing extra on today's store. Wait for a feature you need and buy the update during a reseller sale.
- Elements buyers: buy the tier you need outright. Apart from RX Elements to Advanced, the ladder ends within a dollar of the new price.
- Two or more products to update: one year of Pro at $250 beats $428 of updates for the first year. Buy perpetual if you will keep the versions for years.
- Owners of several Music Production Suite products: price the suite crossgrade ($459 to $599) before updating products one by one.
- Students: EDU is half price on new licenses, which can undercut an owner's update.
Whatever route you pick, log in and check the offer first. It is the only price that counts.
