iZotope Ozone 12: Editions, Prices, Upgrades and Free Tools

Ozone 12 sells as Elements ($55), Standard ($219) and Advanced ($499) on iZotope's US store. Standard suits most self-mastering producers. Here is where to compare editions, price an upgrade, try Ozone free and run it in Sound Forge.

  1. iZotope Ozone EQ Free: How to Claim the Ozone 12 Equalizer and Use It Well

iZotope's Ozone EQ is the full Ozone 12 Equalizer at $0. Here is the official Komplete Start route, the fixes when it doesn't appear, what Transient/Sustain and Digital mode do, how it compares with paid Ozone and how to load it in Sound Forge Pro.

  2. Ozone vs LANDR: AI Mastering Plugin or Online Service?

LANDR finishes a master fastest: free previews, $10 per WAV or a $299 plugin. Ozone 12 Standard at $219 gives you an exact true-peak ceiling and editable modules. Reviews measured LANDR's plugin peaks at -0.2 to -0.1 dBFS.

  3. Neutron 5 vs Ozone 12: Which One You Need, and When to Buy Both

Neutron 5 works on tracks and buses, Ozone 12 on the finished master. Here is where their modules overlap, what nine published reviews agree on, and which edition, bundle or crossgrade fits the way you work.

  4. Ozone 12 Maximizer: IRC Modes, Controls and Best Settings

The Ozone 12 Maximizer is Ozone's final limiter, in Standard ($219) and Advanced ($499). Pick IRC 4 for a few dB of limiting and IRC 5 for loud masters, set Output Level to -1.0 dB with True Peak on for streaming, and plan for IRC 5's CPU load.

  5. Ozone Imager 2: The Free Stereo Widener, Mono-Safe Settings and Limits

iZotope's free Ozone Imager 2 gives you one Width control, Stereoize for mono sources and a correlation meter. Here is how to set it without hurting mono, what the four-band Imager in Ozone 12 adds, and how to install the plugin today.

  6. Ozone 12 vs Ozone 11: What Changed and Is the Upgrade Worth It?

What Ozone 12 adds over Ozone 11 in each edition, what the $129 Standard and $299 Advanced updates cost, how heavy IRC 5 is on CPU and latency, and what eight reviews and owner threads concluded about upgrading.

  7. iZotope Ozone 12 Review: Which Edition Is Actually Worth Buying?

Ozone 12 earns a 9.0/10 median across five published reviews. Standard at $219 already has IRC 5 and Bass Control; Advanced at $499 pays off only if you fix other people's mixes with Stem EQ and Unlimiter.

  8. Ozone 12 Elements vs Standard vs Advanced: Which Edition to Buy

Ozone 12 Standard is the pick for mastering your own music; Elements is Master Assistant with a few controls, and Advanced adds Stem EQ, Unlimiter, Stem Focus and every module as its own plug-in. Module table, US prices, upgrade paths and what four reviews concluded.

iZotope Ozone 12 is a mastering plug-in suite sold in three editions: Elements at $55, Standard at $219 and Advanced at $499 on iZotope's US store on October 20, 2026. Standard is the edition most people mastering their own music should buy; Elements is an assistant with a handful of controls, and Advanced earns its price only if you rescue finished mixes that you cannot send back.

My rule is short. If you want to open the modules and move the controls yourself, skip Elements. If you master your own songs, Standard already has the new Bass Control module and the IRC 5 limiter mode. Pay for Advanced when stereo mixes arrive with a buried vocal or crushed transients and nobody can give you a new bounce. If you already own Ozone 11, the question is no longer which edition but whether the update is worth it, and that has its own page below. Sound Forge stays the editor on this site; Ozone is a plug-in you may or may not need on top of it, so this hub also tells you when Sound Forge's own mastering tools are enough.

Ozone 12 editions at a glance

All three editions include Master Assistant with the new Custom flow, so the real split is how much you can edit after the assistant runs. The module counts follow iZotope's Ozone 12 Advanced page and its edition compare chart. One trap: the Ozone 12 Standard product page repeats the suite-wide line about "20 full-featured modules", but Standard gets 14 of them.

EditionUS price, Oct 20, 2026What you getBest fit
Elements$55Master Assistant with Custom flow and Assistant View, Assistive Vocal Balance; no editable module chainA first assisted master, demos, quick self-releases
Standard$21914 editable modules, including Bass Control, Master Rebalance, Stabilizer and the Maximizer with IRC 5; Track Referencing, Dither and Delta listeningProducers mastering their own tracks
Advanced$499All 20 modules, adding Stem EQ, Unlimiter, Clarity, Impact, Low End Focus and Spectral Shaper; Stem Focus, Codec Preview, the Relay plug-in and every module as its own plug-inEngineers fixing mixes they did not make

Education licenses cost half the list price. iZotope's store shows local pricing outside the US, so compare offers in your own currency. Every edition runs as AAX, AU or VST3, 64-bit only, and VST2 is no longer supported. The listed systems are macOS Sonoma 14.7.x, Sequoia 15.7.x or Tahoe 26.1.x on Intel or Apple silicon, and Windows 10 (22H2) or Windows 11 (24H2).

Choose an edition and a price

If you have never owned Ozone, start with the edition comparison. If you want the verdicts before the details, read the review. If you already own any paid iZotope product, go to the price guide first, because crossgrade prices change the math.

Two facts settle most edition debates. First, stepping up later costs almost exactly what the higher tier costs today: Elements plus the $165 upgrade is $220 against Standard's $219, and Standard plus the $279 upgrade is $498 against Advanced's $499. Starting small costs time, not money. Second, renting is the cheaper route for a short project. iZotope's subscription plans put Ozone 12 Standard in iZotope Plus at $15 a month or $150 a year, and Ozone 12 Advanced in iZotope Pro at $25 a month or $250 a year. Standard's price equals nearly 15 months of monthly Plus, and Advanced's about 20 months of Pro. Subscription tools go read-only after you cancel, so for a mastering chain you expect to reopen years from now, I prefer a perpetual license.

Already own Ozone 11 or older

Ozone 11 is now on iZotope's legacy products list: iZotope no longer sells it, and past buyers keep access to its installers. On the US store, updating to Ozone 12 costs $129 from any earlier Standard and $299 from any earlier Advanced, and an Ozone Standard owner can jump straight to Ozone 12 Advanced for $399. Whether that buys enough is the job of Ozone 12 vs Ozone 11, which lists what changed in each edition, how heavy IRC 5 is on CPU and latency, and where reviewers and owners split on the update.

Check the version number before you rent. Splice's rent-to-own listing, which appeared on Google's first page for "izotope ozone" on October 20, 2026, sells Ozone 11 Advanced with Neutron 4 at $27.99 a month for 22 months ($615.78 in total), not Ozone 12.

If your Ozone came with Sound Forge, it is probably an older Elements license: at its 2024 launch, Sound Forge Pro 18 Suite bundled Ozone 11 Elements and RX 10 Elements. iZotope sells the $165 Standard upgrade "from Ozone Elements or Elements Suite" without saying whether a bundled license counts, so confirm that the license shows in your iZotope account before you pay. The current compare table for Sound Forge and Sound Forge Plus names no iZotope plug-ins; Sound Forge plug-ins by edition shows what does ship and how to load VST3 and ARA plug-ins.

Free Ozone tools and the trial

You can hear Ozone's processing before paying anything. Native Instruments offers the Ozone 12 EQ as a free download, and it is the Equalizer module from the full suite. The Ozone Imager stereo widener costs $0 on iZotope's store. The paid suite runs with full functionality for 10 days; after that your saved settings stay in the session, but the plug-in window locks until you authorize, according to iZotope's Ozone 12 trial download page. I would start the trial when a real release is on the desk, not on a quiet weekend of presets.

  • Free iZotope plugins: the five real freebies (Ozone EQ, Ozone Imager 2, Trash Lite, Vinyl and Vocal Doubler), how to get each one legally, and which "free" iZotope tools are only trials.
  • Ozone EQ: the free Ozone 12 Equalizer from Komplete Start, its Transient/Sustain mode, and what Elements, Standard and Advanced add on top.
  • Ozone Imager 2: mono-safe width settings, the free plugin's limits, and what the multiband Imager inside Ozone Standard and Advanced adds.
  • Free plugins and trials hub: the site's list of free plugins and trials beyond iZotope's own freebies.

Metering and reference tools to pair with Ozone

Master Assistant matches its loudness target over the section it analyzed, so the integrated loudness of the finished file can land somewhere else, as the Ozone 12 Master Assistant guide explains. A separate meter confirms what you actually deliver. These pages cover the checks I recommend after any master, with or without Ozone.

Using Ozone with Sound Forge

Ozone is a plug-in, so in Sound Forge it loads like any other effect. Sound Forge 2026 runs on 64-bit Windows and supports VST2, VST3 and ARA plug-ins; Ozone 12 dropped VST2, so the VST3 copy is the one to look for. Sound Forge is not on iZotope's published host list for Ozone 12, so use the trial to confirm that Ozone loads, previews and renders in your own setup before you pay.

Two edition details matter in an editor. Master Assistant, the signal chain and referencing live only in the main Ozone plug-in, per the Ozone 12 getting-started guide. Only Advanced also installs each module as a separate plug-in, so a Standard owner who wants just the Maximizer on a file still opens the full suite and switches the other modules off.

Before you buy, check whether Sound Forge already covers the job. Its own help documents Wave Hammer, a classic compressor and volume maximizer in one tool, and a Loudness Meters window for integrated loudness and loudness range. For a finished mix that only needs level and peak control, I would master it there first and buy Ozone when you miss something specific, such as an assistant starting point, IRC 5 or stem-aware EQ.

Install, sign-in and authorization

Most Ozone problems after purchase are account problems, not audio problems. Subscriptions install through Native Access, while perpetual licenses can still be installed and authorized in iZotope Product Portal, and a product bought on a second account will not show up on the first. iZotope Product Portal not working? matches your license to the right app, then works through sign-in loops, missing products, installer errors and authorization messages in the order that saves the most time.

The company behind Ozone changed hands this year too. iZotope announced in July 2026 that it is joining Boris FX, which had bought Sound Forge in March, and said existing products, licenses and subscriptions stay fully active with no action needed. The iZotope hub follows the rest of the family, and the Boris FX audio hub covers Sound Forge and the other audio tools under the same roof.

Sales and when to buy

Nothing was discounted on iZotope's US store on October 20, 2026: every Ozone 12 edition and upgrade sat at list price. Retailers can undercut the store, and the lowest prices in plugindeals' trackers are $163 for Ozone 12 Standard's price history and $366 for Ozone 12 Advanced's price history, both at Thomann in March 2026. iZotope hasn't announced a 2026 Black Friday sale yet.

Before the master: repair and vocal fixes

Ozone finishes a mix; it does not repair one. Noise, clicks, a buried vocal or a sharp note are cheaper to fix before mastering, and some of them are not Ozone's job at all.

How to choose in one minute

  1. Not sure you need Ozone? Master one track with Sound Forge's own tools, then try the free Ozone 12 EQ and Ozone Imager. Buy when you miss something specific.
  2. You want a fast assisted master and few decisions: Elements at $55, or run the 10-day trial of the full suite first.
  3. You master your own music and want to edit every stage: Standard at $219. This is my default recommendation.
  4. You master other people's mixes and cannot ask for a new bounce: Advanced at $499, for Stem EQ, Unlimiter and the component plug-ins.
  5. You own Ozone 11: read the upgrade comparison before paying $129 or $299. Skipping a version is a reasonable choice if the new modules do not match your work.
  6. You need Ozone for a few months, or you also want RX: price iZotope Plus or Pro against buying outright.
  7. No deadline: wait for a sale and check the Black Friday page for the price worth paying.
