iZotope RX Price in 2026: RX 12 Costs, Free Trial and License Rules

RX 12 prices, trials and license rules in one place.

On the US iZotope store on October 20, 2026, RX 12 Elements costs $99, RX 12 Standard $399 and RX 12 Advanced $1,399, with no sale running. The iZotope Plus ($15 a month) and iZotope Pro ($25 a month) subscriptions include Elements and Standard, but no plan includes Advanced. The free product trial lasts 10 days, during which the plug-ins work in full and the standalone editor cannot save or export. One license lets one person install RX on more than one computer, but not run it on two systems at the same time.

My default pick is RX 12 Standard at $399. It is the cheapest edition with the standalone RX 12 Audio Editor, reviewers agree it covers most music and spoken-word repair, and iZotope prices every later step to Advanced so that climbing never costs more than buying Advanced outright. I would pay $1,399 for Advanced only when dialogue and post-production work earns back the $1,000 gap. I would start with Elements only when six plug-ins inside a DAW or video editor already do the job. The sections below cover every purchase route, the two different trials, and the license rules that decide what you can do after checkout. Other RX buying and repair guides are collected in the iZotope RX hub.

What RX 12 costs on October 20, 2026

RX 12 has three editions, and the price gap between them is the whole buying decision. These are the US list prices, in US dollars, as shown on iZotope's RX 12 Elements store page, the RX 12 Standard store page and the RX 12 Advanced store page. The subscription column comes from iZotope's subscription plans page.

No RX 12 item carried a sale price when the US store was read on October 20, 2026. Every listing showed its list price. Store prices also change with region and currency, so a buyer in India, the UK or the EU may see different numbers. Sign in and open the store for your own country before you compare. The figures on this page are US store prices only.

The student column needs a verification step. iZotope's student page advertises 50% off once you contact iZotope and confirm your eligibility. Keep in mind that an EDU license can never be transferred to another person later.

Every RX 12 purchase route and its price

If you already own an iZotope product, you rarely pay the full price. The store sells three kinds of discounted route. An update moves you to a newer version of the edition you already own. An upgrade moves you to a higher edition. A crossgrade brings you in from a different iZotope product. These are the RX routes on the US store on October 20, 2026.

    RouteWho qualifiesUS price
Crossgrade to RX 12 StandardOwner of any paid iZotope product$349
Upgrade to RX 12 StandardOwner of RX Elements or Elements Suite$299
Upgrade to RX 12 AdvancedOwner of RX Elements or Elements Suite$1,199
Upgrade to RX 12 AdvancedOwner of RX 12 Standard$999
Upgrade to RX 12 AdvancedOwner of RX 11 Standard$799
Upgrade to RX 12 AdvancedOwner of RX 10 Standard$899
Upgrade to RX 12 AdvancedOwner of RX 1–9 Standard$999
Update to RX 12 StandardOwner of RX 11 Standard$129
Update to RX 12 StandardOwner of RX 10 Standard$199
Update to RX 12 StandardOwner of RX 1–9 Standard$299
Update to RX 12 AdvancedOwner of RX 11 Advanced$269
Update to RX 12 AdvancedOwner of RX 10 Advanced$399
Update to RX 12 AdvancedOwner of RX 1–9 Advanced$599
Crossgrade to RX Post Production Suite 9Owner of RX 12 Advanced$399

One row deserves attention. An RX 11 Standard owner can go straight to RX 12 Advanced for $799. That is $200 less than the $999 an RX 12 Standard owner pays for the same step. If you own RX 11 Standard and already know you want Advanced, take that route rather than updating to Standard first.

The rest of the iZotope range has update and upgrade prices too. For Ozone, Nectar and bundle routes, or to compare RX with the rest of the catalog, use the full iZotope upgrade price guide. Before paying $129 or $269 to move from RX 11, check what the new version actually adds in the RX 12 vs RX 11 breakdown.

Which route is cheapest for you

The cheapest route depends on what you already own. This is how I would buy RX 12 in each situation, at October 20 US prices.

    • New to iZotope, music or podcast work: RX 12 Standard at $399. Choose Elements at $99 only if six plug-ins in your host cover the job.
    • You own any paid iZotope product: the Standard crossgrade at $349 saves $50 on Standard.
    • You own RX Elements: $299 to Standard or $1,199 to Advanced.
    • You own RX 11: $129 to update Standard, $269 to update Advanced, or $799 to move from RX 11 Standard to RX 12 Advanced.
    • You own RX 10 or older: use the update and upgrade rows above. The older your version, the higher the price.
    • You are a student: verify your eligibility and pay the EDU price, $199.50 for Standard.
    • You run film or TV post and need more than RX: RX Post Production Suite 9 costs $1,799. iZotope lists it with RX 12 Advanced, Neutron 5, Equinox, Insight 2 and more. An RX 12 Advanced owner can crossgrade to it for $399.

Starting small costs nothing extra. iZotope's loyalty program page says that even if you go from Elements to Standard to Advanced over time, you never pay more than the full price. The US prices bear that out:

    • Elements plus the Standard upgrade is $99 + $299 = $398, one dollar under Standard bought new.
    • Standard plus the Advanced upgrade is $399 + $999 = $1,398, one dollar under Advanced bought new.
    • Elements plus the Elements-to-Advanced upgrade is $99 + $1,199 = $1,298, which is $101 under Advanced bought new.

Upgrade eligibility is checked when you sign in, so each route is open only to owners of the qualifying product.

RX 12 price ladder with Elements at $99, Standard at $399 and Advanced at $1,399, arrows for the $299, $999 and $1,199 upgrades, a $349 crossgrade into Standard, and a side rail showing iZotope Plus with Elements and iZotope Pro with Standard
Each upgrade arrow lands on or under the price of buying that edition new, so starting with Elements carries no penalty.

Two more places can lower your price. Signed-in owners see personal loyalty prices on the Shop, Deals and product pages, based on the products already in their account. Log in before you compare. If you buy from the Native Instruments store listing for RX Advanced instead, an iZotope account is created for you with the serials already added. If the purchase can wait, the iZotope Black Friday page tracks when official sale prices appear, and the deals hub collects current price pages across brands.

RX price history: RX 11 launch vs RX 12 today

Only Advanced has changed price between the last two versions. Elements and Standard launched at the same price in both.

    EditionRX 11 at launch (2024)RX 12 (2026)Change
    Elements$99$99None
    Standard$399$399None
    Advanced$1,199$1,399+$200

The RX 11 launch prices come from Mix's RX 11 Advanced review (July 2024) and Post Magazine's RX 11 review in its May–June 2024 issue. Both list $99, $399 and $1,199. MusicTech's RX 12 review from April 29, 2026 lists $99, $399 and $1,399, and the store showed the same prices on October 20. iZotope has not published a reason for the $200 rise on Advanced, and I will not guess one.

If you are looking up an RX 8, 9 or 10 price, the number that matters now is the upgrade price. The US store sells only RX 12 as a new license. Older versions appear only as the starting point of an update or upgrade, so if you own one, your price is the matching row in the route table above.

Price test results: what published listings show

The composite result confirms a stable price. Across five dated listings from five separate sources (the iZotope store, three reviews and one reseller), RX 12 Advanced has a median price of $1,399 and a range of $1,259.10 to $1,399. Four sources show the $1,399 list price: iZotope's store on October 20, 2026, MusicTech on April 29, Creative Field Recording's RX 12 for sound effects review on May 6 and MixingGPT's RX 12 review on June 19. The low end is a dated promotion: Plugin Discounts listed RX 12 Advanced at $1,259.10, 10% under list, on October 20, 2026.

    Price pointMedianRangeSources
    RX 12 Advanced, new license$1,399$1,259.10–$1,3995
    RX 12 Standard, new license$399$399–$3994
    RX 12 Elements, new license$99$99–$993
RX 11 Advanced to RX 12 Advanced update$269$269–$2693
RX 11 Standard to RX 12 Standard update$129$129–$1293

Standard sits at $399 in all four listings that state it, and Elements at $99 in all three. The two RX 11 update prices match across the store, MusicTech and MixingGPT. Six months after launch the list price has not moved. If you see Advanced well under $1,399, you are looking at a sale, a reseller promotion or a loyalty price. Check the date and the eligibility conditions before you buy.

Reviewer verdicts point the same way as the prices. Four of four reviews frame Standard as enough for most buyers and Advanced as a post-production purchase. That count includes Mix, whose RX 11 review calls Advanced "as vital as food and water" for post and restoration professionals. Creative Field Recording says "most of the tools you'll need" are in Standard at $399. Three of four call Advanced expensive or a large premium. MusicTech asks whether Advanced is really worth "an additional $1000 over the cost of Standard". On version changes, MixingGPT states there is no free version-to-version upgrade path, and MusicTech's price box lists the paid updates from RX 11. My verdict from this composite: treat $399 and $1,399 as the real prices of RX 12, and expect the next major version to be a paid update.

    Subscription or perpetual license

A subscription is the cheaper way into RX for a year or less, and the perpetual license is cheaper beyond that. According to iZotope's subscription page, iZotope Plus costs $15 a month or $150 a year and includes RX 12 Elements. iZotope Pro costs $25 a month or $250 a year and includes RX 12 Standard. The "starting at $12.50 a month" headline on that page is the Plus annual price spread over twelve months. The plan comparison lists RX 12 only as Elements in Plus and Standard in Pro, so no subscription gets you Advanced.

Way to own RX 12 StandardOne yearTwo yearsAfter you stop paying
iZotope Pro, annual plan$250$500Tools become read-only
RX 12 Standard perpetual$399$399Keeps working; the next version is a paid update

The arithmetic is simple, but it is not a like-for-like comparison. Pro also includes many other iZotope plug-ins, and subscription prices can change at renewal. The end state matters more than the numbers. If you cancel, your tools switch to read-only once the subscription passes its expiry date. They keep their last saved settings, but you cannot edit the controls, and iZotope advises bouncing affected tracks to audio first. You can pause, upgrade or downgrade the plan at any time. iZotope also says it will always offer perpetual licenses.

My rule: if RX is the only iZotope tool you need, buy the perpetual Standard license. Pro makes sense when you will use the other plug-ins it includes, or when you need RX for a project that ends within a year.

The RX trial: 10 days, and a separate 7-day subscription trial

"Try RX free" can mean two different things, and they end differently. The product trial is 10 days of RX 12 itself. The subscription trial is 7 days of iZotope Plus or Pro, after which billing begins.

To start the product trial, use the Try button on the RX product page and sign in with your iZotope account. iZotope's support article on demoing its software confirms that no serial number is needed. According to the RX 12 authorization manual, the 10 days start the first time you open the RX 12 Audio Editor or an RX plug-in in a DAW or video editor. The support article words it as "the first 10 days after installation". Assume the earlier of the two, and install only when you have real problem audio ready to work on.

During the trial, the RX plug-ins run with full functionality. The standalone RX application cannot save or export. The RX 12 Standard download page describes the trial the same way: export is disabled for 10 days.

After day 10, RX switches to Demo mode, and the two official descriptions of Demo mode disagree:

    • The download page and the support article say Demo mode inserts silence into the output at regular intervals.
    • The RX 12 manual says Demo mode disables all controls and user interaction, while playback and automation stay intact.

I would not plan any work around Demo mode. Judge the edition inside the 10 days.

Two timelines: the RX 12 product trial running from first open through a 10-day Trial into Demo mode, and the iZotope subscription trial running 7 free days before monthly renewal and read-only tools after cancellation
The product trial ends in Demo mode; the subscription trial ends in a monthly charge unless you cancel first.

Only one RX edition can be installed at a time. To trial Advanced after Standard, install the Advanced edition first. Then follow iZotope's steps for switching RX editions: open Preferences > Licenses & Updates, click Remove Authorization, choose the edition from the dropdown, restart RX and click Continue to begin the trial. This applies only to Standard and Advanced, because current Elements has no standalone editor. The product and download pages offer RX 12, so a trial today means an RX 12 trial.

The subscription trial works differently. iZotope Plus and Pro are free for 7 days. After that the plan renews monthly unless you cancel, and iZotope sends a reminder email before the first payment. The "Try RX free" offer on the RX collection page is this Pro subscription at $25 a month, not the 10-day product trial. RX itself is never free. The free iZotope tools are separate products, listed in the free iZotope plugins guide.

What an RX license lets you do

A paid RX license belongs to one person. That person may use it on more than one computer, and can transfer it once if it is a full license.

The first time you open RX 12, the authorization window appears. Sign In opens Product Portal. Manual Authorization opens a window where you can continue the trial, continue in Demo after the trial ends, or authorize with a serial number. RX 12 can be authorized online, offline or with iLok. If authorization fails or the product does not appear after purchase, follow the Product Portal and authorization fixes.

RX 12 License Not Found window with a Sign In button and a Manual Authorization button, with callouts showing that Sign In opens Product Portal and Manual Authorization leads to Trial, Demo or serial number entry by online, offline or iLok authorization
Sign In hands off to Product Portal; Manual Authorization is where you keep trialing or enter a serial.

    Computers and simultaneous use

According to iZotope's guidance on multiple machines, one person may authorize the same serial on more than one computer, such as a desktop and a laptop. Running RX on more than one system at the same time, for example across a multi-room studio, needs additional licenses. iZotope publishes no fixed activation count, and it says it may contact users to investigate excessive re-authorizations.

    Upgrades and transfers

An upgrade or crossgrade buys a full new license. You keep your previous licenses, and both versions can stay installed for older sessions. Transfers are narrower. iZotope's license transfer policy sets these rules:

    • Only purchased full licenses can be transferred.
    • Time-limited, educational and NFR licenses cannot be transferred.
    • RX Elements licenses cannot be transferred.
    • If you own several versions through upgrades, only the newest can be transferred, and the older licenses are revoked.
    • A license can be transferred only once.
    • To transfer, the original owner contacts Account Support with the new user's name, email address and the serial number.

If you might resell RX later, buy a full Standard or Advanced license, not Elements and not EDU.

    Subscriptions and multi-seat use

Subscriptions are managed in Native Instruments' Native Access, not Product Portal. Native Instruments' subscription activation article says Native Access became the hub for iZotope subscription products on April 30, 2025. Subscribed tools work offline, but you must connect through Native Access once a month to verify the subscription. For multi-seat, enterprise and educational institution licensing, iZotope directs buyers to its sales team.

    Ownership

Boris FX announced its acquisition of iZotope on July 2, 2026, and said all iZotope products, licenses and subscriptions remain fully active. Before that, iZotope was part of Native Instruments. Existing serials and plans carry on under the new owner.

Which RX to buy at these prices

Buy RX 12 Standard at $399 unless you have a specific reason to choose another edition. These are the reasons I would accept:

    • Advanced at $1,399: when film, TV or dialogue work earns back the $1,000 gap. The module-by-module differences behind that gap are laid out in the RX Elements vs Standard vs Advanced comparison.
    • Elements at $99: when the six plug-ins cover your fixes inside a DAW or video editor. Upgrading later costs nothing extra.
    • iZotope Pro at $25 a month: when you will also use the other plug-ins it includes, and you accept read-only tools if you stop paying.
    • The $129 or $269 update from RX 11: only when an RX 12 change solves a problem you actually have.

For the full verdict on the software itself, read the RX 12 review. If $399 is above your budget, compare the best iZotope RX alternatives. If you are choosing between a full audio editor and a dedicated repair suite, the Sound Forge Pro vs iZotope RX comparison explains which jobs each one handles better.
