Mocha Pro costs $48 a month, $325 a year or $765 for a perpetual license for one plug-in host on the US Boris FX store on October 20, 2026. A license for every plug-in host costs $64, $435 or $1,095, and the standalone application with all plug-ins costs $96, $655 or $1,645. Each perpetual license includes one year of upgrades and support, and keeping it current costs $325, $435 or $655 a year after that. No discount was running on that date, and these prices apply to the current release, Mocha Pro 2026.5.

I'd choose a Mocha Pro license by host first and by term second. Most buyers need one host, because the Adobe license already covers both After Effects and Premiere Pro. For a job that lasts six months or less, pay monthly. If you will use Mocha Pro for three years or more and can stay on one version, the perpetual license is cheaper; in between, the annual plan wins. If you edit in VEGAS Pro, price VEGAS Pro Ultimate before you buy Mocha Pro at all. The rest of the Boris FX range, with the same store logic, is mapped on my Boris FX hub.

Mocha Pro prices for every license

There are three Mocha Pro licenses and three ways to pay for each. The table lists every combination, plus the two fees that matter after the first year.

LicenseMonthlyAnnualPerpetual (1 year of U&S)U&S renewal per yearU&S reinstatement
One plug-in host: Adobe, Avid or OFX$48$325$765$325$425
    All supported plug-in hosts$64$435$1,095$435$535
Standalone application and all plug-in hosts$96$655$1,645$655$855

These are US list prices before tax, taken from the Boris FX store's Mocha Pro page on October 20, 2026. Every Mocha Pro item on the store was at its list price that day, so none of these figures is a sale price. The entry prices also match Boris FX's own Mocha Pro 2026.5 announcement, which says subscriptions start at $48 per month or $325 per year.

The single-host license comes in three versions: Adobe (After Effects and Premiere Pro), Avid Media Composer, and OFX. The store labels the OFX version for "Nuke, Fusion, VEGAS Pro, and other OFX hosts". U&S stands for upgrade and support, the annual contract that keeps a perpetual license on the newest version.

Read across for the host choice and down for the payment term. The renewal row equals the annual row.

Which Mocha Pro license fits your host

Buy the single-host license if all your tracking happens in one application family, the all-hosts license if you work in two or more host applications on the same computer, and the standalone tier only if you need Mocha Pro outside a host.

    Your setupLicense to buyAnnualPerpetual
After Effects, Premiere Pro or bothOne host: Adobe$325$765
Avid Media Composer onlyOne host: Avid$325$765
One OFX application, such as Nuke, Fusion or VEGAS ProOne host: OFX$325$765
Two or more host applications on one workstationAll plug-in hosts$435$1,095
Tracking outside any host applicationStandalone and all plug-in hosts$655$1,645

The Adobe license is the easy case: one purchase covers both After Effects and Premiere Pro. The OFX case needs more care. The store label names several OFX applications, but it does not say that one OFX license covers several of them on one machine, and the FAQ on the Mocha Pro product page says that using Mocha Pro in more than one host on the same workstation requires a multi-host license. If you split work between Resolve and Nuke, or between Premiere Pro and Media Composer, I'd budget for all plug-in hosts.

That step is cheap compared with doubling up. The all-hosts license adds $110 a year ($435 against $325) or $330 on a perpetual license ($1,095 against $765). Two separate single-host licenses would cost $650 a year or $1,530 perpetual.

The standalone application is the only thing the top tier adds, and it exists only in Mocha Pro; the lite Mocha editions have no standalone option. It runs on Windows 10 or later, RHEL or Rocky Linux 8 to 9, and macOS 12.7.6 or later. Pay for it when you track shots outside an editor or compositor, or when a pipeline needs Mocha on a machine without a host application.

Check your host version before you pay. According to CG Channel's Mocha Pro 2026.5 report, the plug-ins support After Effects and Premiere Pro CC 2023 or later, Media Composer 2022 or later, Nuke 13 or later, Flame 2023 or later, DaVinci Resolve and Fusion Studio 18 or later, and VEGAS Pro 21 or later. Version 2026.5 also added Windows on ARM for the Adobe plug-in and the standalone application.

Teams have one more option. Boris FX's upgrade and support plan page offers floating licenses for annual subscriptions only, for a flat fee of $500, with a minimum of five annual subscriptions per product. The Mocha Pro store listing confirms that floating conversion does not apply to monthly or perpetual licenses, so a studio that wants floating seats has to choose the annual plan.

Monthly, annual or perpetual: where the math flips

Monthly wins for six months of use or less, annual wins for up to two years, and a perpetual license you stop renewing wins from the third year on. A perpetual license you renew every year never catches up with the annual plan.

For one host, six monthly payments come to $288, under the $325 annual price. The seventh month takes the total to $336, so a seven-month project is already cheaper on an annual plan. A full year on monthly billing costs $576.

Years of use (one host)Annual subscriptionPerpetual, renewed every yearPerpetual, never renewed
    1$325$765$765
    2$650$1,090$765
    3$975$1,415$765
    4$1,300$1,740$765
    5$1,625$2,065$765

The renewal price equals the annual subscription price on every tier: $325, $435 and $655. That makes the perpetual license a one-time premium of $440 for one host, $660 for all plug-in hosts or $990 for the standalone tier. What the premium buys is the right to keep using the last version you received after you stop paying. The never-renewed column stays at $765, but it stays on whatever version shipped during your support year.

So my rule is simple. If you always want the newest Mocha Pro, subscribe annually and never pay the premium. If you expect to use Mocha Pro for three years or more and a frozen version is acceptable, buy the perpetual license and decide each year whether the upgrade is worth $325.

What Mocha Pro costs after the first year

After year one, a perpetual license costs nothing to keep using and $325, $435 or $655 a year to keep current. The Boris FX upgrade and support terms set the rules:

    • Every perpetual purchase includes a free 12-month upgrade and support contract, and an active contract receives every upgrade released during it.
    • The contract renews automatically at least 24 hours before it expires. Boris FX emails a notice 30 days before, and you can cancel automatic billing in your Boris FX account.
    • If the contract expires, the perpetual license keeps working on the version you have.
    • There is a 30-day grace period. After that, a lapsed contract is brought back with a reinstatement fee: $425 for one host, $535 for all plug-in hosts or $855 for the standalone tier, against $325, $435 or $655 for an on-time renewal.
    • A contract not renewed within 36 months of its original expiration is permanently canceled. Getting back to current versions then means buying a new license or subscription.

The upgrade itself is not billed separately. Mocha Pro 2026.5 went out as a complimentary update to active Mocha Pro, Boris FX Suite and VEGAS Pro Ultimate subscribers and to everyone with a current Mocha Pro upgrade and support plan. If you plan to skip a year, the reinstatement fee is what skipping costs: $100 more than renewing on time for one host or all plug-in hosts, and $200 more for the standalone tier. Leave automatic renewal on unless you have decided to freeze on your current version.

Mocha in VEGAS Pro: Mocha VEGAS, Ultimate or a Mocha Pro license

If you edit in VEGAS Pro, you may already own Mocha or be able to get it more cheaply than a Mocha Pro license. VEGAS Pro Plus includes Mocha VEGAS, a lite version. VEGAS Pro Ultimate includes Mocha VEGAS and the Mocha Pro plug-in for VEGAS Pro. The base VEGAS Pro plan includes neither.

    OptionMocha includedMonthlyAnnualPerpetual
    VEGAS ProNone$17.95$99.95$219.95
    VEGAS Pro PlusMocha VEGAS$24.95$149.95$299.95
VEGAS Pro UltimateMocha VEGAS and the Mocha Pro plug-in for VEGAS Pro$39.95$199.95$499.95
Mocha Pro, one host (OFX)Mocha Pro for one OFX host$48$325$765

VEGAS prices come from the VEGAS Pro plans and pricing page on October 20, 2026. Perpetual VEGAS licenses include one year of upgrades and support; renewal costs $199.95 for Plus and $249.95 for Ultimate.

For work inside VEGAS, Ultimate is the better buy than a separate OFX license. It costs less ($199.95 a year against $325, or $499.95 against $765 perpetual) and includes VEGAS Pro itself. Ultimate subscribers also received Mocha Pro 2026.5 as a complimentary update. The limit is scope. The plans page names the item "Mocha Pro Plugin for Vegas Pro" and says nothing about other host applications, so if you also track in Nuke, Fusion or After Effects, you still need a regular Mocha Pro license.

Moving from Plus to Ultimate costs $50 more a year, $15 more a month or $200 more perpetual. Whether that step is worth it depends on which Mocha tools you need. According to the comparison table on the Mocha Pro product page, Mocha VEGAS shares planar tracking, roto and masking, AdjustTrack, the Essentials interface and GPU planar tracking with Mocha Pro. It lacks the Remove, Stabilization, Lens and Insert modules, the 3D Camera Solver, 360/VR and stereo 3D tools, and export to other hosts.

Stabilization is the trap in that list. The VEGAS help page for Mocha VEGAS explains that its tracking data is applied through the VEGAS Motion Tracking tool or the VEGAS Stabilization tool. You can therefore stabilize a shot with Plus. Pay for Ultimate when you need object removal, lens correction, inserts on bending surfaces or camera solves. A flat screen replacement does not need it: Mocha VEGAS sends corner-pin data to VEGAS Picture in Picture, as Mocha VEGAS vs Mocha Pro shows job by job.

Decision path for Mocha in VEGAS Pro: VEGAS Pro at $99.95 a year has no Mocha, VEGAS Pro Plus at $149.95 a year includes Mocha VEGAS, VEGAS Pro Ultimate at $199.95 a year adds the Mocha Pro plug-in for VEGAS, and a separate Mocha Pro OFX license at $325 a year also covers tracking in other OFX hosts
Inside VEGAS, Ultimate is the cheaper route to Mocha Pro. A separate OFX license only pays off when the tracking work happens in other hosts.

Mocha VEGAS has shipped with VEGAS Pro since version 21, as Videomaker's VEGAS Pro 21 report noted. It is an OFX plug-in, and the help page gives the launch path in four steps:

    1. Click the Video FX tab and select Mocha VEGAS from the list of plug-ins.
    2. Drag the Default preset onto the event you want to track.
    3. In the Video Event dialog, click the Launch Mocha UI button. Mocha opens with your clip already loaded.
    4. Track in Mocha, then apply the data with the VEGAS Motion Tracking or Stabilization tool.
VEGAS Pro Video Event dialog with Mocha Vegas in the effect chain after Pan/Crop, the Default preset selected and the Launch Mocha UI button marked with numbered callouts
Mocha VEGAS lives in the event's effect chain. Launch Mocha UI opens the tracker with the clip loaded.

Before you buy a separate Mocha Pro license for VEGAS, check the version. The Mocha Pro supported-hosts table lists VEGAS Pro 21 and 22, on Windows only. Boris FX already publishes release notes for VEGAS Pro 2026, but that table does not list VEGAS Pro 2026 yet, so run the Mocha Pro trial in your own VEGAS build first. VEGAS Pro has its own 15-day trial, and a VEGAS license can be used on up to two computers.

If you are building a VEGAS toolkit beyond Mocha, my guide to VEGAS Pro plugins covers installing third-party effects, and Sapphire in VEGAS Pro covers the other Boris FX effects package VEGAS editors ask about. Plus also bundles Sound Forge, which is priced separately in my Sound Forge price breakdown.

Is Mocha Pro free? Trial, Mocha AE and student routes

No, Mocha Pro is not free. There are four legitimate ways to use Mocha without paying the full price: a 14-day trial, the lite Mocha AE that comes with After Effects, the lite Mocha inside Continuum and Sapphire, and a $5 student license.

    RouteCostWhat you getCatch
Mocha Pro trialFree for 14 daysFull Mocha ProInstalled through the Boris FX Hub; time-limited

Student license$5 application fee12 months of the full Boris FX Suite, including Mocha ProFull-time students only; no commercial work

The trial is on the Mocha Pro product page: install Mocha Pro through the Boris FX Hub, then register the 14-day trial. Some older reviews mention a 15-day trial; the current official length is 14 days.

Mocha AE is bundled inside After Effects at no extra cost and opens from Animation > Track in Boris FX Mocha. It has the same lite feature set as Mocha VEGAS, so the same rule applies: tracking and roto are covered, while removal, lens work and inserts need Mocha Pro.

The Boris FX student license is the best deal in this article if you qualify. Full-time students at an accredited university or college verify their enrollment through Proxi ID and pay a $5 application fee for a 12-month Boris FX Suite license. It is for learning only and may not be used for commercial work. It does not renew automatically: next year you verify again and pay $5 again. Students at for-profit trade schools are not eligible. Schools and faculty buy academic licenses instead, at $195 for a 12-month subscription per product.

Other free tools and trials across the brands I cover are collected on the free plugins and trials hub.

When the Boris FX Suite is the better buy

The Boris FX Suite is worth it only if you would otherwise buy a second Boris FX product. It costs $219 a month or $1,495 a year on the Boris FX Suite store page. That is $840 a year more than the Mocha Pro standalone tier at $655, and $1,060 more than Mocha Pro for all plug-in hosts at $435.

For that difference you get Sapphire, Continuum, CrumplePop, Optics, Silhouette, SynthEyes, Sequoia, Samplitude and Music Studio alongside Mocha Pro. Suite subscribers also received Mocha Pro 2026.5 as a complimentary update. If the second product you actually want is Sapphire or Continuum, settle that choice first with my Continuum vs Sapphire comparison, then compare the two separate licenses with the Suite price. If you only need tracking and roto, Mocha Pro on its own is the cheaper purchase.

Mocha Pro prices in euros and pounds

The Boris FX store carries its own euro and pound prices for Mocha Pro. On October 20, 2026, the store's price data showed these list prices:

    LicenseMonthlyAnnualPerpetual
    One plug-in host€42 / £37€290 / £250€675 / £590
    All plug-in hosts€57 / £49€385 / £335€970 / £840
    Standalone and all plug-in hosts€85 / £74€580 / £505€1,455 / £1,265

The single-host upgrade and support renewal is €290 or £250, again equal to the annual price. The store data does not state whether VAT is included, so compare the checkout total on the Mocha Pro store page, not the list price, against a US purchase.

Why some pages still say $695 or $295

Pages that quote $695, $37 a month or $295 a year are showing prices from before June 2025. CG Channel's Mocha Pro 2025.5 report recorded the change: perpetual licenses rose by $70, $100 and $150 to $765, $1,095 and $1,645, and the single-host subscription went from $37 to $48 a month and from $295 to $325 a year. The earlier perpetual prices of $695, $995 and $1,495 appear in CG Channel's Mocha Pro 2025 report.

Some of the stale figures sit on Boris FX's own site. The FAQ on the Mocha Pro product page still says $37 a month, $295 a year or $695 perpetual, and quotes multi-host at $75, $595 or $1,495; the page's structured price data carries a valid-until date of December 31, 2024. The Boris FX blog post comparing Mocha AE and Mocha Pro, last modified in March 2026, quotes the same old prices. Some third-party listings still show $695 as well.

Trust the cart. The store is where you pay, and on October 20, 2026 it charged $325, $765 and the rest of the prices in the first table. If a reseller shows $695 for a new perpetual license, ask what version and term you are buying before you pay.

Test results: what published price checks show

The composite result is unambiguous: six dated price observations from three publishers, made between June 13, 2025 and October 20, 2026, put single-host Mocha Pro at a median of $325 a year, with a range of $325 to $325. There is no spread on any term. Every current source agrees to the dollar.

    Price checkedMedianRangeObservationsSources

Standalone and plug-ins, perpetual$1,645$1,645–$1,6452Boris FX store, CG Channel 2026.5 report

The composite counts only prices observed at or after the 2025.5 change. Nine older, stale or unverifiable figures were set aside: $695-era prices from reviews and earlier release reports, the outdated figures on Boris FX's own FAQ and blog, and three listings whose pages could not be retrieved.

Three findings matter more than the median:

    • Four of four current sources agree exactly. The US reseller Motion Media lists $765 for the Adobe perpetual license, $1,095 for multi-host perpetual and $325 for both the annual subscription and a year of upgrade and support, the same as the Boris FX store.
    • Three of four top-ranked pages with a visible price are out of date. Of the top 10 Google results for "mocha pro price" on October 20, 2026, four showed a price I could tie to a license. Three showed pre-2025.5 figures: the Boris FX product-page FAQ, a third-party marketplace snippet and a 2018 review. Only Motion Media showed the current price, and two more snippet prices could not be confirmed at all.
    • Two of two editorial reviewers called Mocha Pro good value, at older prices. Pro Video Coalition's Mocha Pro 2019 review (October 2018) called it "the, hands down, best motion tracking application/plug-in available on the market today", and Creative Bloq's Mocha Pro 2019 review (January 2019) gave it 5 out of 5 with "Great value" among its pros. Both reviewed Mocha Pro when a single-host perpetual license cost $695, not today's $765.

On the VEGAS side, all three VEGAS sources agree that Mocha VEGAS sits above the entry edition: in VEGAS Pro 21 it came with Suite and Post Pro rather than Edit, and today it comes with Plus and Ultimate rather than the base plan. Only Ultimate lists the Mocha Pro plug-in for VEGAS Pro.

My reading of the data: the Mocha Pro price is settled and identical across the store, the reseller channel and the trade press. The real pricing risk is reading a stale page, including Boris FX's own FAQ, and budgeting $70 to $150 too little for a perpetual license.

Verdict: which Mocha Pro purchase I would make

For most editors and motion designers, I would buy the single-host annual subscription at $325. It covers After Effects and Premiere Pro together, includes every upgrade, and stays cheaper than a perpetual license for the first two years.

    • One project of six months or less: pay $48 a month and cancel when the job ends.
    • Three years or more, and happy on one version: buy the $765 perpetual license and treat each $325 renewal as an optional upgrade.
    • Two or more host applications on one workstation: buy all plug-in hosts at $435 a year or $1,095 perpetual, never two single-host licenses.
    • VEGAS Pro editors: start with VEGAS Pro Ultimate at $199.95 a year. Choose Plus at $149.95 if planar tracking, roto and stabilization data are enough, and buy a Mocha Pro OFX license only for work outside VEGAS.
    • Full-time students: pay $5 for the Boris FX Suite student license instead.
    • Buyers who also want Sapphire or Continuum: price the Suite at $1,495 a year against the separate licenses.

If you can wait, check timing before you pay. My Boris FX Black Friday guide tracks how past sales treated Mocha Pro, and current offers across the brands I cover are on the deals page.

    FAQ

Does Mocha Pro work with VEGAS Pro 14?

Not on the current support list. The Mocha Pro supported-hosts table starts at VEGAS Pro 21. VEGAS support itself is older: Boris FX announced official VEGAS Pro support for the Mocha OFX plug-in with version 5.5.2 in August 2017. For a current Mocha Pro purchase, plan on VEGAS Pro 21 or later, or use the Mocha VEGAS included in VEGAS Pro Plus and Ultimate.

Is there a Mocha Pro discount right now?

Not on October 20, 2026: every Mocha Pro item on the US store was at its list price. Students have the cheapest route all year through the $5 Suite license; for seasonal sales, see the Black Friday guide linked in the verdict.
