## How to use the pink noise generator

1. **Turn your device volume down before starting.** The tool level begins at 5%, but that percentage is only digital gain inside this page. It is not a sound-pressure reading.
2. **Leave Pink selected and press Play.** If you want a direct comparison, switch to White or Brown while the player is running. The signal changes without starting a second audio stream.

## What pink noise actually is

Pink noise is random noise whose power spectral density is proportional to 1/f. In practical terms, its power falls by about 3 dB each time frequency doubles, so every octave carries roughly equal power. That distinction is why pink noise sounds less bright than white noise. White noise is flat per hertz, and higher octaves contain many more hertz-wide bins than lower octaves. Pink noise reduces the density as frequency rises, balancing power by octave rather than by one-hertz slice.

The slope describes a statistical signal rather than a fixed pitch. Pink noise contains continuously changing random samples across a broad spectrum. Those descriptions aren't promises that every laptop, phone, speaker or headphone reproduces the profile accurately. Small speakers may remove much of the low end from brown noise, and a room and playback system can create peaks and dips that aren't present in the digital source.

Two independently generated channels avoid duplicating one identical sample stream in both ears, and Stop uses a short fade so the graph doesn't end with a sharp click.

## A careful note about sleep and focus claims

Treat the generator as an audio tool. It isn't a treatment for insomnia, tinnitus, ADHD, hyperacusis or another condition. If a symptom affects sleep, hearing or daily life, the useful next step is professional advice rather than increasing the volume of a browser signal.

## Keep the level conservative

Noise can feel less eventful than music, but exposure still depends on how loud it is and how long it plays.
